Medford is Town of Brookhaven, unincorporated, and it developed later than the villages to the south. The bulk of the housing went up from the late 1960s through the 1980s on generous lots, which produced the thing Medford is full of: long, wide driveways with room to turn a vehicle around.

Original driveways are now at end of life
A driveway installed when a Medford house was built in 1978 is approaching fifty years old. Blacktop on Long Island realistically runs 15 to 25 years with maintenance. Almost everything original here is well past that, and a lot of it has been overlaid once or twice already.

My driveway drains toward my garage. Can that be fixed when you repave?
Yes, and repaving is the right time — the surface is coming off regardless. We re-establish pitch away from the slab, and where the grade will not cooperate we add a trench drain at the garage line. Doing this later as a standalone job costs several times more.
How long does a driveway take?
One day for a resurface on a typical residential driveway, and one to two days for a full rip-out and repave. You can walk on it the same evening and park on it in 48 to 72 hours. Full cure takes about 30 days, which is why we ask you not to turn your wheels while stationary for the first month.
What time of year can you pave?
Roughly April through mid-November on Long Island. Hot-mix asphalt has to be laid and compacted while it is hot, and once ground and air temperatures drop the mat cools before the roller can seat it. A driveway paved in December looks fine in December and ravels the following spring.
